WEST Kalimantan Police arrested an illegal logging suspect identified as `Am` on Saturday (April5 ).
"`Am` was arrested while driving with a colleague from Jungkat heading for Pontianak at 10.30 pm Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Saturday," West Kalimantan Police Chief Brig Gen Zainal Abidin Ishak said at a press conference here on Monday.

Police would continue to hunt two other suspects, identified as `As` and `Au`, for their alleged involvement in illegal logging activity in West Kalimantan province, he said. `

Six Ketapang District police officers suspected of having colluded with the illegal loggers were currently also under investigation.
West Kalimantan Police have so far named 26 people as suspects in illegal logging cases, consisting of 14 boat crew members, six officers of the Ketapang transportation service, eight illegal log owners (two of them still at large), and one mediator between illegal logging financiers and loggers.
The police had earlier seized around 12,000 cubic meters of illegal logs worth about Rp208 billion which were about to be smuggled to Malaysia from Muara Sungai Pawan, Ketapang District, West Kalimantan.
